Jill at the summit overlooking Emerald Lake
We arrived at emerald lake around 9:30 pm and set up camp. Oddly enough there was no wind. We had some tuna bagels and watched the stars. They were amazing. The stars made the whole trip worth it for Jill. She was in heaven having just completed astronomy in the winter. Oh, and the part about no wind, well, that changed. In the middle of the night it went crazy. It sounded like a hurricane outside. Jason's tent caved in on them, and Dallin's was rocking all night long. Our tent held strong so thank you Parker for the advice.
We caught the sunrise and then headed to the peak. All the girls did awesome. We started to head to the glacier to make our way down but two "pros" advised us against it. Blah blah, too rocky, blah blah, broken pelvis. They said they hiked up it and it would be too dangerous without gear. After a 45 minute stand off with the wives we convinced them that it was not a macho thing we insisted on doing but that it just made sense and was perfectly safe. We did it and everyone had a great time. Plenty of others also made there way down so I am still a bit confused why the two guys thought it would be so dangerous.
We loved it. These are a few pictures but Jason has all the group shots.
