It seems rather strange that at my age I am embarking on a new career as a dental assistant. I hope my back and feet can hold up. I am learning when to hand things to the dentist a little better than I used to. I'm not sure what we will do Wednesday but we both need to learn the computer program the clinic is going to be using. The clinic will be shut down this week for Semana Santa a national religious holiday. Some of the missionaries are going to various sites to watch and to market but we decided to stay out of the crowds and go when there isn't so much going on.Thurday Jenny is having her operation and we will be going to the temple. We have heard that Betsy, Paul's sister is going to help out a few days and then Lisa will try to get there on Tuesday.
I am so grateful someone can step in and take my place.
We are enjoying the senior couples here. We had a game night on Friday and played Mexican Trains. On Saturday we walked through the Embassy Neighborhood and Saturday afternoon went out to eat with about 12 Senior couples.
I had a great cooking experience. I made twice baked brownies. Now picture this: Everyone here seems to be great cooks so I thought I would make my famous brownies for game night. Everything was fine, I had all the ingredients. I bought one of the baking sheets I love at price saver so I wouldn't burn them. I was a little pressed for time but everything was going fine. After they had been baking about 15 minutes, I looked in the oven to check them. Uh, Oh, they were boiling away and I mean boiling. I looked over on the counter and there sat my flour in a measuring cup. Well, I could either throw them out entirely or. . . you guessed it. I took them out of the oven, poured the flour in and beat them with a fork and stuck them back in the oven for 10 more minutes. I took them out and frosted them. Ok, so the leavening had ceased to work and they were a little flat. They tasted a little like fudge--but hey they were actually edible and the only chocolate morsel there. They worked pretty well with ice cream. They asked me to make rolls for their Easter Lunch so I get a chance to try again. Let's hope my yeast works. I don't have a bread maker so I will be doing a lot of kneading. Today we attended our meetings. Paul taught the lesson in the men's group. I actually understood most of what was taught in Sunday School and Relief Society. Now if I could only speak.
We had a great video chat with Brian and Jill and Cedric. I hope before long, we will be able to have that capability with all of our family. It was so clear this time. We have been able to do it with Parker and his children but next time it will be better because we discovered if we turned a light on, they could actually see us. That is really all for this week.

I'm so glad you wrote me on FB. We are doing fantastic, just super busy. Laura and Jeff moved to California back in November and doing really well there. I ran into Brother Hansen about 2 weeks ago and he told me you guys were in Guatamala. That is so exciting. Sounds like you guys are having fun down there. I will add you to my blog list so I can keep up with you. Tell Bishop "hi" for us too.
Miss you,
Amber Howard
I love reading your updates. You are an excellent blogger. The annual Easter Egg hunt is tonight, so Parker and Lark can attend. In your backyard.
