This week was a good week. We worked on Future Missionaries on Monday and had our afternoon off Monday and Wednesday. Instead of the usual two weeks with CCM missionaries, we had a much smaller group and finished them in one weekWe got an extra afternoon off on Thursday this week because first our tio juan boys had something at school and couldn't come and then our students had a conference and couldn't work. Paul had someone build some shelves to put the student and volunteer trays in so they could be prepared ahead of time. They didn't turn out quite right the first time so we used Thursday afternoon to drive them to William's house (the builder). It started raining so we had to stop and get something to cover them. We stopped at good old McDonald's on the way and had a hamburger and tried their cheese pies. Some one told us they were yummy. They weren't. We'll stick to apple next time.
Wednesday evening we went to our good Chinese Restaurant with the Arnold's, the MacArthurs, and the Hatch's and ate too much and had a good time. I took my camera but forgot to take pictures. It isn't even on the menu anynore but the missionaries that left used to order it so they always know what we are talking about.
I have been going 3 times a week to the spanish class they are having for the Senior Missionaries at the Church office building and with the extra time we have now a couple of afternoons a week, I have been able to get back to studying a little Spanish. It has been good.
Saturday we were supposed to work on Momos Future Missionaries but only one came. The others couldn't get to the bus at 3:00 in the morning. They had to get out of the bus on the way, hike over some mud slides and get on another bus on the other side. He came with a return missionary to help him find his way so we worked on him too. We are supposed to have Future Missionaries come in from Quetzaltenango on Friday and we have some volunteers from Hirsche Smiles coming in to help us. But tonight we got a call telling us that the leaders can't bring them so we will see if we actually get some to work on. It has been raining hard every afternoon and evening for about a week now and the roads are probably pretty compromised from Quetzaltenango to here.
On Saturday we are going with the Hirsche Smiles group to Chiqimula until Thursday. They will do some restorative and a lot of pulling teeth in some remote areas. They have been coming to Guatemala for about ten years. The leader of their group is a neighbor to my sister Marjean Archibald in Denver. He is coming in November with his wife and son, probably Thanksgiving week. After that a doctor from Florida is coming who used to do dental work years ago for Tio Juan is coming and a few weeks after that a friend of the Toblers is coming for 3 weeks. We are beginning to hear from a few possible volunteers from the Dental Academy Meeting. We even heard from some good Ayuda friends of ours, Karen and David Dickerson. We would love to have them visit. So that is all for this week. Pretty boring, I know but this is really just so I will have a journal. I'm not clever enough to entertain anyone.
Last night we went to a good stake conference meeting and I understood a lot of what was said.
Today I played hookey and stayed home to study while Paul picked up some members from our ward and took them.
One interesting note; We have church videos we put out for the missionaries and other commercial videos we put out for the tio juan kids. occasionally the missionary ones get left out and often the video the kids choose to watch is The Testament and sometimes even the Restoration. They really seem to like The Testament.

I am so happy to hear that things have slowed down some and different problems are getting fixed. Enjoy your extra FREE time :)
Sadie is studying Spanish, too and really enjoying it. It will be fun to charlar when you get back.
love the update. I may be the only hold out of spanish in the fam. Justin now tries to talk to me in spanish all the time. I remember enough vocab to understand him but could never follow a native. Maybe one day I will catch the bug. Adios (see how good I am)
