We ended our week last week with a great evening out for dinner with Jennifer and Dic Johnson before they left for a legal conference in the states. It was nice before we began our very busy week.

We had CCM missionaries this week and although we usually see about 12 to 20 % of those we check, this time we checked 38 and had to see 26. Some of them had not been to the dentist before coming to the CCM and had lots of work to do. We had a few back two days and worked on them for 2 or 3 hours each time. We still had to put in an extra morning on them on Wednesday and Friday to get them finished in the two weeks.

We also had some great volunteers this week. Dr. Gary Weitekamp came from Florida with his hygienist, Angie, and his dental assistant, Veronica. They were all hard workers and very competent. We were impressed and they were also a lot of fun to work with. Dr. Weitekamp was able to spend some valuable time with the students teaching about root canals. I wish we could have had more time to socialize with them and get to know them better. Dr. Weitekamp had done some volunteer dentistry before with tio juan boys several years ago. We were sorry to see them leave.

All the chairs in the clinic filled with volunteers and dental students

Another one of our barbeque's with Rudy Guajardo doing the cooking with Paul and Elder Parent. This hornet's nest was hanging from a tree by Elder and Sister Hatch's balcony. It was covered with kind of a green moss because it rains so much.

Yes, this was very, very good. Just wanted my children
to know their father is not suffering!

Friday we went with Clate and Carol Mask to Antiqua.

Carol had a flat Stanley from one of her grandkids she was showing a good time to.
First we went to some ruins where they still sacrifice chickens. Then we went to the wood factory and got some wooden fruit and some cute napkin rings. Then on to Antiqua where we ate lunch and listened to Marimba Music. We bought cookies at a bakery and shopped a little while Paul and Clate sat in the park and had their shoes shined. Paul was wearing sandals! We took some more
pictures of flat Stanley

and then Flat Stanley had his big adventure.
The last place we stopped was the Hotel Santa Domingo to get pictures of Flat Stanley with the parrots. I was holding him up to get a picture and the parrots decided he looked interesting and pushed him into a little stream with running water.

I went down immediately and got soaked as I tried to retrieve the poor fellow. Then the lawn workers tried to help and started dipping water out but, of course, it filled back up as fast as they dipped it out. Clate and Paul were waiting in the car for us and finally Paul came in and I told him his long arms were just what we were looking for. At first, he resisted but we finally prevailed.

It was a good thing Flat Stanley was laminated and you will be happy to know we were able to revive him; what an adventure he had to tell about when he got home (Flat Stantley, not Paul)

Our adventure was over
The next day it was back to work at the clinic.
I hope my grandkids all get to read about Grandpa's adventure with Flat Stanley!

I loved the flat stanley story. Great pictures. Send me your address again to my email address. Sydney wants it and I can't find where I put it. Love you.

I'll have to show that to the kids tomorrow. Charlie sent a flat stanley to Ventura a few years ago. Nothing as exciting as that.

Love hearing about your adventures. My nephew and his wife might be heading to Guatemala for a year come January.
