Phoenix Hope with Parker and Brian

Two of my handsome sons, Parker and Brian, came to visit, actually, not us, Guatemala.  They came to continue their search for some areas to begin a long term project of helping villages help themselves and get a little help with some basic needs such as drinking water filtering units for their humble homes, cook stoves with venting, medicine for children with intestinal problems, black boards, and other small requests brought to them by the village women.  Needless to say, I am humbled to have sons that care enough about other people in the world to use their own meager funds to travel to begin this important work.  I am really proud of their wives who support their efforts.

Typical homes, kitchens in the Aldeas that we visited.  It kind of makes you wonder what would happen in the world if every family in every ward in the United states funded one family for a water filtering system and cook stove with a vent outside,  and pills for intestinal bugs (basically pennies) --probably less than $200 would make an amazing lasting  difference  for each family.

The child on the left has nutrition growth problems that Parker says could be turned around with a little help.

They are still in the beginning stages of this effort and are joined by brothers and brothers-in law, and friends not to mention their ever patient wives.

Most of my comment is about how blessed we are and what a big responsibility we have because we are so blessed. Love, Joanne
