Mom's Lemon Pie Graveyard

Recently when I was making a Lemon Pie, I remembered a story Mom told me.
When Mom and Dad were first married, she desperately wanted to make his favorite lemon pie like his Mom made it. In the process of trying, she said she created quite a lemon pie grave yard. When it didn't set up or taste right, she would quickly bury it in the dirt outside, so Dad wouldn't know and try again. She said she shed a few tears of frustration from time to time but never gave up and we all know she became an expert and was known for her delicious lemon pies which are still Dad's favorite.
Being my mother's daughter, I learned early how to make a lemon meringue pie and prided myself in being the only one in my college dorm room who knew how to make pie and gravy. However, pride goeth before a fall. The first time I invited Paul to Sunday dinner, I, of course, made my famous lemon pie which always turned out perfectly . . .except this time. It was very runny and I wished I had a little dirt to bury it in. But he ate it and was a good sport!

Oh those BYU days!

I just made your pie the other week! I'm sure mine are no where near like yours but they are improving each time! Thank you for sharing your family legacy with me. And now I have a great story to tell along with it!
